Overview

With this extension customers are able to apply for a vendor account (works similar to affiliate accounts in Opencart). Their profiles are reviewed by administrator. Once the customer gets their vendor account approved, they can create new products and publish them along with other regular products in the store. The administrator can limit a number of available products per account.

Regular customers will see a general information about a seller in the store, they can add their products to the cart. The cart will be split visually by vendors to show what products belong to each vendor and their shipping cost. The shipping cost is calculated for each vendor separately basing on shipping methods defined by the administrator. It is possible to allow vendors to define shipping rates on their own with a separate extension called 'Custom Shipping Methods'. 

Once a customer placed an order and the payment is cleared, the vendor will be able to manipulate the 'Delivery status' to inform a customer about the order status. The administrator can enable a delivery confirmation button available to customers which has to be clicked to confirm the delivery

When the order gets 'Delivered' status, a new transaction is created to the vendor account with deduction of store commission. We assume, that the administrator will revise those transactions periodically and make payments to vendors manually.

Extension limitations

Number of fields defined by vendor is limited. They are not able to specify product options, wholesale prices and other. Adding new fields can be implemented in bounds of a custom work at extra cost.

Vendors cannot receive payments directly from customers (like defining their Paypal account).

Demo Store

The demo store uses a custom 'Milena' theme, but it looks very similar to a default one except colors and other details. The multivendor extension does not include any theme and it is compatible with the default theme only out of the box.
