We are pleased to announce new versions of our extensions with improved and fully tested support for the latest OpenCart 4 releases.
A major part of this update is the significant rework of our Ka Extensions library for OpenCart 4.1.0.3 and newer. The changes were made possible by improvements in OCMOD compatibility introduced with OpenCart 4.1.0.3.
Ka Extensions Reworked for OpenCart 4.1
Starting with OpenCart 4.1.0.3, OCMOD works correctly with the platform again. This allowed us to make our Ka Extensions library work properly with the newer OpenCart versions.
We have significantly reworked the library for OpenCart 4.1.0.3 and newer. Class namespaces are now defined in the same way as OpenCart namespaces, which allowed us to simplify the library and remove custom code that was previously required for loading classes.
We have also removed the need to patch the vendor.php file. This is important because vendor.php is no longer present in newer OpenCart versions.
The library still requires a patch to framework.php, but this patch is small and robust and should not cause problems during installation or operation.
kamod Engine Is Ready for Production
These changes also give us confidence that OpenCart 4.1.0.3 is fully compatible with the kamod engine and that the engine can now be used in production projects.
We have been using kamod with OpenCart 3 for some time, where it has proven to be a very useful tool. Unlike traditional OCMOD modifications, kamod allows extensions to make changes to OpenCart files without patching those files.
With the improvements in OpenCart 4.1.0.3 and our updated Ka Extensions library, we believe kamod is now a reliable solution for OpenCart 4 production environments as well.
CSV Product Import Updated
Following the changes to the Ka Extensions library, we have also adapted our CSV Product Import extension to the new library.
The latest version has been fully tested with PHP 8.5 and the latest OpenCart 4.1.0.4 release and is fully compatible with the updated Ka Extensions architecture.
As with our OpenCart 3 extensions, we provide free support for all of our extensions on OpenCart 4. We want customers to be able to use our extensions confidently in their production stores and have access to assistance when needed.
OpenCart 3 Is Still a Great Choice
We still believe that OpenCart 3 remains a capable choice for production stores. OpenCart 3 has a mature ecosystem and offers a wide range of high-quality extensions. For many existing stores, there may be no immediate reason to migrate simply because a newer OpenCart version is available.
At the same time, with the latest improvements to OpenCart 4.1 and our extensions, customers who choose to build or migrate to OpenCart 4 can now take advantage of a more reliable foundation and our growing library of compatible extensions.
Updated Extensions
The new versions are available now, with the updated Ka Extensions library and improved OpenCart 4.1 compatibility.
We recommend existing OpenCart 4 users update their extensions to the latest versions to benefit from these improvements.
